When one’s father is not a business mogul like Dangote or an influential politician like Tinubu, one of the surest ways a child of a nobody can become a somebody is to jolt into seriousness in his or her academic pursuit.
This is Owolabi Habeebat Olayinka. Her father is an ordinary plank seller in Ibadan. Through thick and thin, her father struggled to send her to school.
Habeebah got admission into the Botany Department, University of Ibadan. In her first degree, she passed out with a First Class Honour. This made her one of the best graduating students in the University.
Her praiseworthy and stellar performance as a First Class graduate earned her a scholarship to proceed for her Master’s degree in UI, in the same department.
At the end of her programme, she emerged one out of the best three postgraduate graduands in the University of Ibadan. She scored 7.0 in her CGPA. It is called a perfect CGPA! She missed no point!
She has been offered employment as an assistant lecturer in the Botany Department, University of Ibadan. She will soon put in for her Ph.D. I am proud of her. I love brilliant ladies.
Finally, finally and lastly; on the 28th December, she will be getting married to her heartthrob. Are we all cordially invited?
