Speaking at Ultimate Events Centre, Oyo on 13th July, 2019 at the maiden edition of ‘The Future Project, an annual event organized by Good Seed Foundation, the principal social welfare officer in Oyo Zone of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community Development, Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation, Mr. Yunus Tunde Abdulkareem charged Nigerian youths to prepare themselves to leverage on opportunities that come their way.
In his exposition on the topic ‘Creating the Platform’, he led credence to the fact that Nigerian Youths do not have a solid plan for the future. He said, “In a bid to creating a good platform for success, there must be a good plan which must follow a gradual process”.
However, he reiterated the fact that success is not accidental and is not achieved overnight. Rather, he advised youths to be patient enough in following their plans step-by-step before they can achieve their desired goals. He said, “Having a plan will lead you to developing an idea which will propel you towards achieving your goals as planning makes you perfect”.
Also, Mr. AbdulKareem mentioned the importance of acquiring adequate knowledge that is essential for the creative exhibition of the idea. Likewise, he charged youths to pursue the acquisition of 21st Century skills and build-up capacity that they may achieve their planned achievements.
Whilst concluding his lecture, Mr. AbdulKareem urged youths to create a platform by having a plan which births an idea that leads to practice which eventually turns them to professionals in their chosen paths.
Also admonishing the youths, at ‘The Future Project 2019’, was Mr. Adeleke Wasiu Adewale, a lecturer in the department of Social Studies, Federal College of Education Special, Oyo, who opined that, “The youths are not mere leaders of tomorrow, rather, they are leaders of today who must start acting to full capacity in order to secure the future”.
While introducing Good Seed Foundation to the gathering, Mr. Adebimpe Teslim Ademola, The Executive Director and founder of the foundation stated that Good Seed Foundation, from its name, is focused on developing the youths as good seeds which will eventually grow into a big giant tree that will be of service to humanity with its fruits, shoots and shade.
The future project 2019 saw an array of goal oriented students across higher institutions in Nigeria, such as – Ekiti State University, Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, The Federal University of Technology, Akure, Federal College of Education Special, Oyo, University of Ibadan, The Polytechnic, Ibadan as well as personalities which include lecturers from different higher institutions, ministry workers and professionals across various fields.
